Water Expo China: show date moves to November 2014

The 2014 edition of Water Expo China + Water Membrane China will be held 9 – 11 November at the China National Convention Center of Beijing, China.

Approved by China’s Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Science and Technology, and the only show to be sponsored by the Ministry of Water Resources, Water Expo China + Water Membrane China attracted a record number 450 exhibitors and 24,311 visitors, for its last show held in December 2013.

The show is organised by Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) Co Ltd, the Chinese Hydraulic Engineering Society together with the Membrane Industry Association of China and is expected to attract 500 exhibitors from more than 25 countries and regions, 35,000 visitors from more than 38 countries, as well as 50 international and domestic buyer delegations.

Speaking about this year’s show, Mr Jason Cao, Senior General Manager for Messe Frankfurt (HK) Co Ltd commented: “We are hoping for another record breaking show and the signs that this will happen are looking very positive. For example, half of last year’s exhibitors have already signed up again for our 22,000 sqm show. They know that we provide a professional business platform for the many new opportunities arising in China’s water industry market following the government’s latest round of funding for water projects.”

Mr Li Zangtang, Secretary General of the Chinese Hydraulic Engineering Society added: “Our show is strengthening as a result of favourable policies to encourage foreign investment in China’s water conservancy infrastructure construction sector as shown by a government investment of USD 636 billion until 2020. We have also strengthened our cooperation with industry associations, chambers of commerce, research institutions and other related institutions, so the show is becoming increasingly well known as a trading platform that facilitates business in China’s water industry sector.”

National pavilions express interest in the show

Continuing interest by international companies seeking opportunities in China’s water industry has resulted in several countries expressing their desire for a national pavilion at the show.

For the third successive year, in a show that’s quickly selling exhibition space, the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Media, Energy and Technology, Bayern International-Bavarian Bureau for International Business Relations and BIHK-Association of the Bavarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce have reserved a 108 sqm pavilion. Also confirmed is the Korea Pavilion organised by the Korea Water and Wastewater Works Association. Furthermore, last year’s pavilions from Australia, Japan, and the UK have again expressed interest in organising pavilions, as has the US.

Representing Water Membrane China, Mr You Jinde, Secretary General of Membrane Industry Association of China commented that an increased interest from international companies shows that the event is a quality business platform that achieves good results.

Speaking about his industry sector, he added: “In China, low-end membrane is applied to a wide range of projects but the use of high-quality membrane is scarce. Membrane plays a very important role in environmental protection, water resource development, energy development, and the transformation of traditional technology. With the rapid raising market demand, the membrane market is offering more business opportunities than ever before.”
