The World Climate Ltd today announced its partnership with Iberdrola, Spain’s number one energy group and one of the world´s largest utilities companies, for the upcoming World Climate Summit, the original business, finance and government leaders forum during the UNFCCC COP 21.
“Iberdrola is firmly committed to the fight against climate change and the development of sustainable energy,” said Ignacio Galan, CEO of Iberdrola. “Today, our emissions are 30% lower than the average of the European electricity sector. But we can do more, and we have set tough new environmental targets for our generation business with the aim of reducing, by 2030, our CO2 emissions intensity by at least 50% from the emissions recorded in 2007, and furthermore, to become completely carbon neutral by 2050.”
The partnership includes Ignacio Galan as part of a panel discussion on mobilising leadership and innovation post-COP 21.
“We are excited to partner up with Iberdrola for this year’s World Climate Summit,” says Jens Nielsen, CEO of World Climate Ltd, organiser of the World Climate Summit. “The extensive alliance between Iberdrola and World Climate Summit opens up new possibilities for both companies to reach new climate change and sustainability energy solutions. We look forward to hearing Ignacio Galan’s insights during the Summit.”
Organised by World Climate Ltd, Sustainia, and Image & Stratégie, the World Climate Summit takes place this year on December 6 in Paris, France. World Climate Summit will showcase innovation and initiatives of businesses, financiers, and governments in solving climate change through a variety of panel discussions, workshops, and networking sessions. The Summit will conclude with the prestigious Sustainia Awards ceremony.
