“I just want to make this world a better place for you and I. If we could make a change, can’t you hear Mother Nature cry… I want a greener world, I want a cleaner world…”

These are the lyrics to the catchy song, “Mother Nature’s Cry”, which recently won the top prize at the Eco Music Challenge 2013, which is organised yearly by the National Environment Agency (NEA) of Singapore.

The song by Charles Basa, Nur Ashriqin and Samuel Simpson is also the theme song of Clean and Green Singapore 2014, the city-state’s annual campaign to engage the public to be more conscious of the environment and do more of their own personal green activism by adopting an eco-friendly lifestyle.

The music video shows a number of Singaporeans doing small steps to protect the natural surroundings, such as proper waste disposal. According to Clean and Green Singapore organisers, the video “hopes to inspire every individual to help safeguard and cherish the environment for future generations”.
