China voiced the call for South Africa in Cape Town on Thursday to jointly develop clean energy and renewable energy.
The invitation was addressed during a meeting between visiting Chinese top legislator Wu Bangguo and Chairman of South African National Council of Provinces Mninwa Johannes Mahlangu.
Wu, Chairman of the National People’s Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, the country’s top legislature, told Mahlangu that the successful experience China obtained in regard of energy-saving and renewable energy during its national development campaign could well serve to South Africa’s newly-launched New Economic Growth Path.
China hopes to step up its cooperation with South Africa in such fields as nuclear, solar, wind energy as well as coal chemicals by joint technology innovation and mutual investment in the bilateral demonstrative projects, Wu said.
Wu also spoke positively on the current bilateral relations, noting that the exchanges and cooperation between the two parliaments composes an important foundation of the strategic partnership.
Echoing on Wu’s views, Mahlangu highlighted the concrete benefit brought by the South Africa-China cooperation in the various fields, pledging to continue his efforts to promote the cooperation between South African National Council of Provinces and the NPC.
The South African National Council of Provinces also eyes on promoting bilateral trade cooperation at various provincial levels between the two nations, Mahlangu added.
Visiting as Speaker of South African National Assembly Max Sisulu’s guest, Wu arrived here on Tuesday evening. He is leaving on Thursday for Pretoria to continue his visit to the rainbow country.
