Phoenix Solar opens Malaysia office

Singapore based Phoenix Solar Pte Ltd (“Phoenix Solar”), the Asia Pacific subsidiary of Germany-based Phoenix Solar AG, announces the opening of Phoenix Solar Sdn Bhd in Kuala Lumpur.

Phoenix Solar is a leading solar PV system integrator with extensive experience in implementing commercial, industrial and residential solar PV projects. The Malaysia branch will offer full turn-key PV solutions including design, engineering, supply, installation and commissioning of ground-based and rooftop PV power plants, Building Integrated PV (BIPV) systems, and off-grid systems.

Mr. Christophe Inglin, the Managing Director of Phoenix Solar said “The opening of Phoenix Solar Sdn Bhd in Kuala Lumpur is testament to our belief in Malaysia’s solar PV industry. The Malaysian government recently announced its National Renewable Energy Policy and Action Plan to increase renewable energy from 1% to 5.5% of electricity supply by 2015. This augurs well for the industry here. Our Malaysian office will not only put us where the action is, but more importantly, allow us to serve our clients better.”

The announcement coincides with the grand opening of ixmation (Asia) Sdn Bhd (“ixmation”) in Penang. The ixmation Group are leading providers worldwide for automation systems, production and assembly solutions. Their new factory in Seberang Prai features a 169kWp rooftop photovoltaic (PV) system installed by Phoenix Solar. The installation uses solar modules with unique tubular thin film technology made by Solyndra Inc., and the latest high-efficiency, 3-phase transformerless inverters from SMA. The first of its kind in Malaysia, the system covers a roof area of over 1,800m² and is designed to provide approx. 225MWh of clean electricity per year.

Mr. Inglin added, “The Solyndra system is ideal for flat or lowsloping rooftops and can be installed very quickly and without any roof penetration. Our team took only 7 working days to install the modules. We are proud that ixmation chose to work with Phoenix Solar for this pioneering project.”

“ixmation provides assembly solutions for the solar industry, so it is natural that the new building would contain modern solar panels for energy generation. The cooperation with competent partners such as Phoenix and Solyndra enhances technology solutions for the benefit of all involved”, stated Martin Pfister, CEO of ixmation.

This is Phoenix Solar’s second major project in Malaysia after completing a 71.4kWp rooftop system on the Suruhanjaya Tenaga Malaysia building in Putrajaya in 2009.
