China’s “Energy Saving and New Energy Vehicle Industry Development Plan (2011—2020)”

Insiders have indicated that China’s Energy Saving and New Energy Vehicle Industry Development Plan will not be released in 2011. Additionally the correlated policy is to change from the previous focus on 100% electric cars towards an increase of funding for R&D on-, and increased subsidies for energy efficient and hybrid cars. Car subsidies are supposed to be calculated in relation to the degree of fuel efficiency.

Because of China’s weakness in hybrid passenger car technology, promotion of hybrid public buses will be the countries focus for the coming years.
