Greenpeace campaigners in Taiwan have called for stricter government regulations on harmful chemicals in the clothing industry after it found toxic substances in 20 international clothing brands. More the 63 per cent of global products tested contained traces of nonylphenol ethoxylates (NPEs), a compound that causes hormonal disruptions. Greenpeace named Zara, Mango and Levi’s as clothing brands that tested positive, and urged customers to exert the same pressure on those companies that previously resulted in new policies for Puma, Nike and Adidas.
