Power plants’ capacity in Iran to hit 70,000 megawatts

The electricity production capacity of power plants will hit 70,000 megawatts (MW) in near future, said the managing director of Power Generation, Transmission and Distribution Management Company (Tavanir).

Homayoun Haeri said the threats of sanctions have been turned into opportunities in the power industry, noting a large number of the equipments required by the power industry are produced domestically in cooperation with the universities, ISNA reported.

Iran ranked first in the region in terms of electricity exchange and achieved self-sufficiency in the field of electricity production and transmission, he added.
