President to issue energy efficiency order

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will soon issue a presidential order on energy efficiency, Minister/Chairman of National Development Planning Board (Bappenas) Armida Alisjahbana said here on Monday.

“The president will soon issue the instruction and therefore the government institutions are expected to become an example in energy efficiency,” Armida said during the conference for the Bali provincial development planning program.

He noted that President Yudhoyono has given five directives to ministers, including the policy on the security of the revised state budget 2012 (APBN-P), the policy of non-tax state revenues in every line, gradual steps towards energy savings, the policy of domestic gas use to drive the real sector, and the improvement of investments supported by a conducive climate and regulations.

Armida noted that of the five directives, gradual steps towards energy savings was a top priority.

He added that the presidential order on energy savings would start with government institutions, state enterprises, private parties, and the public in general.
