Valeria Gelman is the Communications Specialist & Program Coordinator II at the WRI’s Ross Center for Sustainable Cities where she supports a diverse team of experts with project management and research tasks for the flagship World Resources Report (WRR) on Cities.
Valeria joined WRI coming from the Urban Ecology Agency of Barcelona where she worked on projects related to public space and mobility that aimed to restructure city ordinance in order to prioritize citizens over transportation and enhance public space as a “common living room” for everyone in the community.
She holds a Master’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Virginia Tech University, VA, a Master’s of Science in Urban Environmental Ecology from the University of Helsinki, Finland, and a Bachelor’s in Education, Foreign Languages and International Studies, from Salisbury University, MD.
Valeria loves travelling, and has completed a year long trip around the world in 2011-2012. Her other passions include hiking, dancing, gardening and photography.
