The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Green Invest Asia program along with global cacao manufacturer Barry Callebaut, and the German development service provider, GIZ, will convene buyers of coconut and coconut oil products on-line September 29th from 4pm-6pm (ICT) for the 5th Sustainable Coconut Roundtable.
Following the industry-led launch of the coconut industry’s first sustainable charter in November 2020, this meeting supports signatories and other coconut supply chain actors to align with the charter, which aims to improve farmer livelihoods, increase sustainable sourcing, and reduce deforestation and the impact on climate change.
Barry Callebaut’s Head of Sourcing, Massimo Selmo and its Sustainability Director, Oliver von Hagen, along with Nestlé’s Global Sustainability Leader, Madeleine Eilert, will share how the sustainability charter has informed their supply chain reforms. Remote-sensing expert Karis Tenneson from Spatial Informatics Group will cover how remotely gathered data (spatial analytics) can inform companies’ environmental risk management and policy choices. The two-hour event introduces a proposed process to carry the roundtable into its next phase.
Registration is open to the public, which will receive the webinar recording and materials post-event. To learn more, contact USAID Green Invest Asia Events Coordinator at rchaiyosaeng@pactworld.org for more information.
