A regional fishwatch for the Coral Triangle

Six countries have resolved to work together to keep tabs on overfishing in the Coral Triangle under the Coral Triangle Initiative-Coral Reefs Fisheries and Food Security (CTI-CFF). On Monday, the Science, Technology and Innovation Minister for Malaysia, which is currently chairing the initiative, said the effort would involve sharing data from governments and the private sector as well. The other countries in the scheme are Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Timor-Leste and the Solomon Islands. Currently, Malaysia and Indonesia jointly monitor the Straits of Malacca under a similar partnership.
