Ada Quek has left the Centre for Nature-Based Solutions at the National University of Singapore to join a start-up that leases carbon-neutral electric vehicles (EVs).

Called Noco-noco – a play on the words “no CO2” – the Japanese firm leases EVs powered by its own long-lasting batteries. Noco-noco claims that its technology can add 15 years to the lifespan of lithium-ion batteries. The start-up was previously known as 3DOM Singapore, and is a subsidiary of parent company Tokyo-headquartered 3DOM Alliance.
Quek has joined as sustainability and business development manager. Her role will involve finding partners and investors to scale the production and roll-out of the service, working on sustainability strategy, and also generating and purchasing carbon credits to support the carbon neutral claims of Noco-noco’s leasing platform.
“I’ll hopefully be able to bring all the lessons about carbon credits from my time at the NUS Centre for Nature-based Climate Solutions and ensure that these credits are high-quality and have real impact,” she told Eco-Business.
Quek joined the Centre for Nature-based Climate Solutions in 2021 in the communications and outreach team. She started her career as a sustainability trainee with Singapore state-owned investment firm GIC.
