A memorandum dated December 29, 2011 shows that a Selangor state subsidiary directed Konsortium Abass Sdn Bhd to reduce the production of treated water from 145mgd to 120mgd a day, said state Barisan Nasional coordinator Datuk Seri Mohd Zin Mohamed.
Mohd Zin said the memo was issued by Kumpulan Perangsang Selangor(KPS), a subsidiary of Kumpulan Darul Ehsan Berhad (KDEB).
“This order is the cause of the water crisis in Kajang and Balakong as the Sungai Semenyih water treatment plant is being managed by Abass.
“The Selangor government says whatever it does is for the people, but this clearly shows that the people is not the state government’s main priority,” he said.
Mohd Zin said a copy of the memo was also forwarded to the National Water Services Commission (SPAN) chief executive officer Datuk Teo Yua and Syabas chief executive officer Datuk Ruslan Hassan.
Selangor exco member Dr Xavier Jayakumar had previously denied such order was issued by KDEB.
On a separate matter, Mohd Zin asked about a piece of land owned by Kumpulan Hartanah Selangor Berhad (KHSB) that was seized by the state government in August last year.
“The Mentri Besar had said that the land was seized due to illegal sand mining activity. If the exercise was done in a proper way, what is the status of the land now?” he told reporters at the Selangor Umno building yesterday.
Later, Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim said the land takeover exercise was done in a proper manner.
“The state government does not care who owns the land. If they do not use the land in the proper way that was designated to the them, the state will seize their land,” he said.
The land belonging to SAP Holdings Bhd (a wholly-owned subsidiary of KHSB) was forfeited by the state government in August. The lease was supposed to expire only on June 25, 2090.
It is understood that the shareholders have lodged complaints with Bursa Malaysia.
