Chinese solar firms cast eye on Africa

Chinese solar power firms Trina Solar and Suntech Power Holdings are targeting South Africa’s huge market. New York-listed Trina Solar has started to bid for a project in South Africa and will be providing photovoltaic modules for that project. Suntech, for its part, has signed an agreement with their South African counterparts to build a solar power plant with an expected annual production capacity of 100 MW. Another Chinese firm JinkoSolar is also said to be considering overseas expansion and Africa will account for a large part of this move.
