Thitachai Apipongcharoen has joined the climate risk team at professional services firm KPMG.

Thitachai has been appointed climate risk manager for Southeast Asia, and comes on board after two and half years with KPMG competitor Deloitte, where he was part of the climate and sustainability risk advisory team.

The Thai national comes on board as the big consulting firms build out their sustainability and climate risk capabilities to service businesses in the Asia-Pacific region. In 2021, KPMG announced a US$1.5 billion investment in its sustainability capabilities and established an environmental, social and governance (ESG) hub in Singapore – one of five regional ESG centres globally.

While at Deloitte, Thitachai’s projects included advising a large real estate company in Thailand on social impact, providing carbon market and policy analysis research for a Japanese ceramics producer and developing sustainable natural rubber ESG scorecards for an NGO.

Prior to Deloitte, Thitachai worked in the sustainability team for Thai property developer Pace Development Corporation. Over his career, he has also worked in sustainability for furniture retailer Ikea and carmaker Toyota. He also worked as a consultant for environmental services for ERM.
