Exploring fraud in South Korea’s nuclear plants

A team of 58 from South Korea’s nuclear safety agency will inspect all 23 of the nation’s nuclear plants after the discovery of forged safety documents for parts at two of the plants. The thousands of parts affected were non-essential parts, according to plant operator Korea Electric Power Corp (Kepco), and did not pose a safety risk. Meanwhile, Kepco chief executive Kim Joong-kyum tendered his resignation, citing personal reasons. South Korea depends on nuclear energy for about a third of its power, and also as an export industry.
