First EV charger linked to smart grid launched in Australia

The world’s first certified smart grid-integrated electric vehicle charger was recently introduced into the market by Australian firm Percepscion. The Charge IQ charger is capable of communicating with smart meters. For example, utility companies, through the smart meter, can adjust the EV charging load. This will enable electricity utilities to apply flexible pricing tariffs to encourage EV customers to use their vehicles on lower off-peak hours.
