First solar-enabled panchayat in Kerala

A small village in the outskirts of Ernakulam is all set to become the first totally solar-enabled panchayat in the state, with Bombay IIT’s help.

Nearly 10,000 buildings in Chendamangalam Panc-hayat, part of Kanayanur taluk, will sport huge roof-top solar panels in the next three months in their bid to be self-reliant.

The project is being implemented in a tie-up with the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) and the IIT, Bombay.
