She has been appointed head of marketing and growth, and has a brief to expand the Singapore-based company’s reach and grow its user base.
Abillion, formerly known as abillionveg until a rebrand last year, has a mission to persuade one billion people to make more sustainable lifestyle choices by using its app.
The abillion app is available in 173 countries and helps people find vegan restaurants and other sustainable lifestyle options. By using the app, consumers donate money to charities that help animals, children and the environment.
Kantor moves on after six years with Foodpanda.
Sustainability initiatives she led at the Delivery Hero-owned company include a move to allow consumers to opt-out of receiving single-use plastic cutlery and a trial with reuseable container brand Muuse.
In a post on Linked on Monday, Vikas Garg, founder and chief executive of abillion, said: “I first met Laura in 2019 when we shared the stage at an event in Singapore. Calling me an underdog on that stage would have been a compliment… and I remember thinking then, wow maybe some day we’ll be able to hire people like that. Three-and-a-half years later she’s joined us and the team couldn’t be more excited.”
A marketer by background, Kantor has worked for advertising agency Ogilvy as an account director in Singapore and for private healthcare service Bupa in the United Kingdom.
Kantor originally joined Foodpanda as head of marketing in 2016. Sustainability was added to her remit in 2018.
