Hong Kong-listed solar company GCL-Poly Energy Holdings has joined forces with hightech manuacturer Foxconn Technology Group to build and operate a 310 megawatt solar power plant in Shanxi in China.
The plant will be built in Datong near one of Foxconn’s factories. Foxconn, of the Taiwanese multinational Hon Hai Precision Industry Co, is the world’s largest maker of electronics components and has recently been in the media because of worker unrest.
Foxconn founder Terry Gou has indicated he would scale up investment in clean energy.
