A Perth wave energy company’s plan to trial a desalination plant on Garden Island next to its power station has been boosted by federal government funding.
Carnegie Wave Energy has received a $1.27 million grant, derived from the carbon tax, to help pay for its plan to use waves to directly drive high pressure desalination pumps at a pilot-scale plant.
The $2.5 million plant will be located on Garden Island with the company’s $31.2 million power station, which received about a third of its funding from the federal government.
