Green building ideas spark in Thailand

Energy-efficient buildings were recently on show at the Rehda Youth Green Tour in Bangkok as a way of demonstrating to property developers some prototypes of green buildings that they might construct in the future. From a sci-fi-like Energy Conservation Building to an energy-efficient suburban house, different techniques and themes were shown to inspire green construction. Feeling its crippling dependence to imported energy, it now wants to pave the way to having more sustainable housing. The Energy Conservation Building, which has 30 inches’ worth of insulation wrapped around it, is said to be a pet project of the King going back 10 years ago. He wanted to build a prototype for energy efficient buildings as well as to educate the public on sustainable energy practices.
