How to climate-proof marine reserves

Marine reserves must adapt to climate change too, according to scientists from the ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies. Professor Bob Pressey said marine parks are usually fixed geographical areas but it must be taken into account that ocean water, as well as storms and flood runoff also move unpredictably. Marine protected areas, he said, should also be moved and configured so that they will not be affected by climate events. The findings come amid the ongoing climate talks in Doha, Qatar this week.
