The past year has been nothing short of remarkable for scores of renewable energy investors since the government’s multi billion-rand renewable energy independent power producers procurement finally started.
The programme is a significant step for South Africa because it represents a massive capital injection into the local economy.
The 28 renewable energy projects approved in the first window of the programme involve approximately R47bn in new investments and are spread across the Eastern Cape, Northern Cape, Limpopo, North West and the Free State.
