South Korea was asked by the International Energy Agency to be more transparent with its nuclear power sector, the country’s economy ministry said. The IEA, which advises industrialised nations and represents 28 oil importing countries, said that more transparency and stronger regulatory independence in South Korea will increase trust in the safety of its nuclear facilities. The IEA will be releasing a report about South Korea’s energy policies. South Korea currently has 23 nuclear reactors supplying a third of its power requirements.
