Indonesia, Poland explore cooperation in green technology

The Indonesian and Polish governments have agreed to explore cooperation in green technology that is expected to be useful for the two nations.

“We hope that the cooperation will be realized so that we can share the knowledge in developing green technology,” Indonesian Environmental Affairs Minister Balthasar Kambuaya stated while receiving a Polish delegation, here on Tuesday.

The Polish Green Technology Mission was led by Secretary of State of Water Resources Stanishlaw Gawlowski.

Members of the Polish delegation included high-ranking officials from the Polish environmental affairs ministry, the National Water Management Institute, the Meteorological and Water Management Institute, and two companies President Directors.

Indonesian Ambassador to Poland Darmansjah Djumala accompanied the Polish delegation during their visit to Indonesia.

The Polish delegation will also explore cooperation in solid and liquid waste management with the provincial administrations of South Sumatra, South Kalimantan and Jakarta.

The visit to Indonesia is a follow up of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on climate change, environmental technologies for air pollution, water pollution and waste management, environmental sustainable development, and ozone layer protection, signed by Minister Kambuaya and his Polish counterpart, Marcin Corolec on November 20, 2013.

Poland and Indonesia have also agreed to focus on river management in Sumatra and Kalimantan, in particular, to deal with the solid and liquid waste.

Meanwhile, the Indonesia International Green Technology and Eco Friendly Products Exhibition (INAGREENTECH) is scheduled to be organized at the Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo), Jakarta, on May 13-15, 2014.

INAGREENTECH 2014, which is the main platform for green technology providers, main buyers and users of green technology, is supported by various Indonesian government ministries, agencies and trade bodies.

Themed “Be Green for Better Future”, the event will have seven main sub sectors to showcase the latest technologies in Green Building, Eco Friendly Products & Technology, Green Energy, Green Transportation, Green ICT, Green Manufacturing and Water & Waste Management.
