Indonesian official pushes nuclear preparedness

Indonesia is ready to manage a nuclear power plant, says Research and Technology Minister Gusti Muhammad Hatta. He said that the Republic’s scientists were prepared to safely handle the new generation of nuclear power plants, which he added, are safer than the plant in Fukushima that was destroyed in a 2011 earthquake and tsunami. He accused opponents of nuclear power of wanting to hold back Indonesia’s progress.
