JinkoSolar’s new Malaysian production facility almost fully booked

Tier-one PV manufacturer JinkoSolar has said its new production facility for solar cells and modules and Malaysia has started ramping on schedule and was expected reach capacity within two months.

The fast ramp was said to be due to the capacity from the facility being almost fully booked by downstream orders.

“With the strong support of the local government and MIDA (Malaysian Industrial Development Authority), we were able to rapidly build and begin production in our new facility in Penang, Malaysia,” commented Kangping Chen, chief executive of JinkoSolar.

“We have great confidence in the development of our new Malaysian production facility and the local business environment. With the facility’s production capacity almost fully booked by downstream orders, we will ramp up to full capacity soon while actively explore new opportunities to expand current capacity in the future.”

JinkoSolar said that the production facility in Penang received TUV certification in late April, 2015. It has a nameplate annual capacity of 500MW of solar cells and 450MW of modules.
