A Korean-based photovoltaic and solar energy manufacturer is coming to Sacramento.
Global Solar Energy Corp., a subsidiary of Youil Ensys, has leased 3,000 square feet of space in the Bank of the West building at 500 Capitol Mall, according to the Sacramento Area Commerce and Trade Organization and the city of Sacramento.
Global Solar Energy will have 10 employees in the office, which will become the U.S. headquarters for the company and a sales and marketing office, according to a news release.
The company manufactures trackers used in utility-scale solar panel operations, and plans to expand to manufacturing and distribution in the region.
Global Solar Energy president Richard Ko said the company is excited to come to Sacramento.
The region was chosen because of its prominence in the solar market and to the state capital.
“The company’s decision to locate here further solidifies the region as a major player in the solar industry,” said Ann Madden Rice, chief executive officer of UC Davis Medical Center and chairwoman of SACTO, in statement. “Coupled with announcements such as the Brookings Institution recently recognizing Sacramento as a leader in clean energy technology talent, we look forward to many more companies choosing to locate in the Sacramento region.”
