Li Keqiang’s appointment welcomed as a boost to solar energy

China’s newly appointed Premier is seen as good news to the country’s solar photovoltaic industry. Professor Hui Shen, one of the leading photovoltaic experts in Guangdong province, said that the incoming Premier has been a leading advocate of renewable energy in China. He said that Li’s efforts as Vice Premier is credited for the adoption of China’s grid monopolies of renewables like photovoltaics, as well as the increasing promotion of distributed photovoltaics.

Shen is hoping that Li could do more to support the photovoltaic industry in Guangdong. He said provincial and local officials there had lagged in promoting photovoltaics in recent years.
