Manila Water makes bid for India water board

Ayala-controlled Manila Water Co. Inc. made a bid to manage India’s Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board.

The company is not at liberty to cite the bid amount, but is keeping its fingers crossed it could clinch the contract, said Dave Valeriano, Manila Water investor relations manager.

“The project is a six year management contract. We’re focusing on non-revenue water reduction. It’s a bit similar to what we have in Vietnam,” he said, referring to Manila Water’s the five-year contract to reduce leaks and manage the water system in Ho Chi Minh City.

This year, the company plans to raise up to P10 billion from Philippine banks to partly fund primarily sewer cover for its concession in Metro Manila.
