New solar requirements in Tamil Nadu may boost industry

Solar energy players in Tamil Nadu in India are awaiting a new solar energy policy to be implemented that will open up new business opportunities for them. R. Chellapan, Managing Director of Swelect Energy Systems Limited (SWEES) in Chennai, said that it appears that the government will insist that industrial consumers source a certain amount of solar power. Chellapan said he and his other colleagues in the industry intend to grab the business opportunity offered by the new policy. He said SWEES was planning to build the largest solar power project in Tamil Nadu, targeted to be finished by August next year.
