Philippine agribusiness ventures to discuss sustainable farming

Business leaders and agriculture experts will be convening in the Zamboanga Peninsula in Southern Philippines in December to improve the region’s farm output and ensure sustainable practices in the sector. Ricardo Marmoleno, who heads the committee of the agriculture and food security of the Zamboanga City Business Chamber, said the conference next month aims to teach farmers and agricultural traders the newest technologies in agriculture that will ensure sustainable practices. He said agribusiness firms are not only after their bottom lines but are also concerned on the impact of energy and fertiliser use on the environment.
