Poor nations: Climate funding pledges not enough

Developing nations are disappointed that developed countries have so far only pledged to continue climate aid to poorer countries, without a word on their previous commitment to scale up climate financing to $100 billion by 2020. Climate negotiators from the Africa group and the Least Developed Nations said that they need more than “an indication that funding will not fall of a cliff” and that climate finance is a key issue towards an agreement at the upcoming UN talks in Doha, Qatar.

Donors for the climate fund such as the European Union, the US, and Japan are all reeling from the economic crisis and have not given firm numbers for climate financing.
