Priya Bellino joins Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation as new head of of ESG in APAC

Bellino is the bank’s second regional ESG head in a year following the departure of Ghislaine Nadaud. She was formerly from professional services firm EY.

Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) has appointed Priya Bellino as Asia Pacific head of environmental, social and governance (ESG) solutions.

Bellino joins the Japanese banking giant from professional services firm EY, where she was Southeast Asia head

Bellino is SMBC’s second regional ESG head in a year following the departure of Ghislaine Nadaud, who joined in May last year. Nadaud has since moved to asset management firm Robeco to help set up its Asia Pacific sustainability team.

Bellino will be responsible for leading SMBC’s sustainable finance initiatives across the region, and running a team of seven people. She will report to the company’s managing director and deputy head of corporate banking, Asia Pacific, David Koh.

Before EY, Bellino worked for Goldman Sachs for a 17 years in London and Singapore, holding roles including head of Asia Pacific risk engineering.

She previously ran her own sustainability consultancy, Aquabaleno, which offered training and capacity building for sustainable finance and sustainability reporting services.
