Shunfeng to develop 250 MW agricultural PV park in China’s Qinghai province

Shunfeng Photovoltaic Investment, a subsidiary of Chinese solar giant Shunfeng Photovoltaic International, and the government of Hainan Xinghai County in China’s Qinghai Province have signed a cooperation agreement to develop and construct a solar PV agricultural demonstration park in the region’s plateau area.

The project, located in Hainan Xinghai County’s Longqu Village, will focus on developing Xinghai County into a plateau ecological solar PV agricultural base.

The park will be mainly used to grow seeds and seedlings complemented by greenhouse production focusing on production and scalable operation with the aim of becoming a high-tech demonstration park featuring solar PV and agricultural integration driven by green and low-carbon development strategy.

According to the agreement, Shunfeng Photovoltaic Investment will invest in at least 250 MW of installed PV capacity on 10,000 acres of land. The Hainan Xinghai County government will assist in making at least 10,000 acres of land available for the project.

“With growing demand for agricultural products in Qinghai Province, the provincial government shows support to the continuous development of modern agricultural technology and to bring up the plateau ecological solar PV agriculture as the new mainstay of industry,” said Shunfeng Chairman Zhang Yi.

“The success of acquiring the project by the group represents the continuing trust and support provided by the Chinese government in supporting us to develop more high-quality solar power generation projects with demonstration impact, and expresses full confidence in the group’s future development.”
