A project proposal lying idle for more than a year, the much-hyped solar city project to light the Kochi corporation building, other administrative offices, streets, shops, industrial units, etc has got into high gear.
The long-delayed project will be implemented soon as the civic body has invited Expression of Interest from agencies that will undertake the detailed project report (DPR) preparation.
The project implemented with financial assistance from both central and state governments aims at meeting the increasing energy demands of the city and to also promote optimum utilisation of renewable energy resources.
“We’ve floated a tender for DPR preparation and the last date for submitting tenders is February end. A total of seven national agencies with a proven track record in implementing the project in other cities are expected to submit tenders,” said a top source at the corporation.
