Solar plant developer plans 7 more facilities

Solar Philippines Commercial Rooftop Projects Inc targets to install solar panels in at least seven more malls before the year ends.

In a statement, Solar Philippines said it is already putting up solar rooftop facilities for mall developers SM, Robinsons, and DoubleDragon.

The company is putting up solar power facilities in SM North Edsa, Robinsons Palawan, and CityMall Roxas.

Before the year ends, Solar Philippines aims to complete at least seven solar rooftop projects. The company, however, did not disclose its other projects.

Last Saturday, Solar Philippines launched a 700-kiloWatt solar rooftop installation in Central Mall Biñan of Premiumlink Development Corp.

Under a power purchase agreement signed by the two, electricity generated by the facility will be supplied directly to the mall at below Meralco rates.

The supply covers 30 per cent of the mall’s energy needs, reducing its Meralco bill by at least P100,000 per month.
The displaced electricity is enough to power 1,000 Filipino households, and over three decades in operation offset over 20,000 tons of CO2, or the equivalent of planting over 100,000 trees.

Solar Philippines is the country’s leading solar provider, and Southeast Asia’s largest developer of rooftop power plants.
