Plenty of attention today is focused on how the world’s biggest economies will start to adopt and integrate renewable energy technology. But the fact remains that coal is still the single largest source of electricity in the world, not to mention the US, and developing economies such as China and India have shown little interest in discouraging further additions to coal-fired generation.
A group researchers from the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation in Canberra, Australia, and Monash University in Melbourne have offered a potentially valuable new engineering tool to limit the impact of this continuing reliance on coal - essentially bringing solar power to carbon capture.
