The future of data centres: A look at Asean’s next generation facilities through a lifecycle lens
Southeast Asia's digital economy is booming. Keeping its environmental footprint in check will require innovative solutions to build, operate and decommission data centres sustainably.
As Asian firms scale up disclosures, the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB)'s guidance – effective from December 2026 – could help curb greenwash if backed by strong regulatory frameworks, say industry players.
SGX RegCo's mandatory climate reporting rules – effective from 2025 – exclude a fixed timeline for reporting Scope 3 emissions, or indirect value chain emissions, after a public consultation found that issuers might not be ready for it.
The Singaporean palm oil exporter plans to announce more details in early October. This comes after its Malaysia-based counterpart SD Guthrie got its climate goals verified by the Science Based Targets initiative in end-2023.
