Tax benefits urged for electric cars

The Macau Green Environmental Protection Motor Vehicle Association urged the government to set up tax benefits for electric vehicles.

The Environmental Protection Bureau (DSPA) met with the association on Tuesday to “exchange opinions on the implementation of eco-friendly vehicles in Macau”, according to a statement. During the meeting, representative associations presented the situation on the use of electric motorcycles in Macau, the statement said, giving no further details on this. The association proposed to the government the promotion of  “policies related to tax benefits for this type of vehicle and additional equipment”.

The DSPA said the first phase of the study on the implementation of eco-vehicles was completed last year.  “It evaluates these vehicles’ feasibility, eco-efficiency, economic efficiency, and technology risks among others. Based on this study we will start the second phase of the study this year,” the bureau said.
