Da Nang on Vietnam’s coast could be a green city by 2020, but it would take drastic policy changes, said an official from the ministry of natural resources. He was speaking at a Green Economy conference on Monday about sustainable growth and green energy. While solar, wind and biomass projects are underway to help the country toward its goal of 11 per cent renewable energy in its energy mix by 2050, Vietnam has yet to tap into it potential for marine and tidal power projects. Most projects are small in scale or for household use because the costs of renewable technologies are still too high for large-scale investment, said experts.
