World’s institutional investors urge countries to boost cleantech investments

An alliance of the world’s largest institutional investors has called for governments to shift their climate policies and adopt ambitious emission targets. The group has written to countries like the UK, US, China and India, urging them to have a new dialogue with investors on climate policy. The alliance, made up of companies like BlackRock and Aviva, warned that the lack of ambitious emissions reduction targets and slow investments in low carbon technologies are putting the lives of millions at risk for the dangerous impacts of climate change. Inadequate climate policies, they said, increase investment risk for institutional investors and will affect investments in the retirement savings of millions of citizens.
