ALLCOT solidifies operations in Central America

ALLCOT continues its expansion in America. The company by the hand of Valeria Prado Mancilla, expert in carbon markets, founded ALLCOT Mesoamerica, with offices in Guatemala City. Thanks to this agreement, ALLCOT will help in the developing of projects that have already started to build up in Guatemala and Honduras.

This development of projects in Guatemala and Honduras is a natural extension of the success ALLCOT has achieved in American markets, where environmental solutions have been well received. In addition, according to Focus-Economics, “Central America and the Caribbean is set to outperform Latin America, which is expected to grow only a timid 0.1% in 2016. And in 2017, the Central American and the Caribbean region is expected to grow 3.2%.” For that reason, ALLCOT Group sees this region as a primary market that cannot be overviewed on its expansion.

The projects

The first one is the Project “Hydroelectric Finca Lorena” plant; where Gold Standard Carbon Credits will be generated. It is a greenfield micro scale run-of-river hydroelectric plant, with a total installed capacity of 4.324 MW. The Project activity is located 267 km west of Guatemala City in Finca Lorena, Municipality of San Rafael Pie de la Cuesta department of San Marcos, Guatemala, Central America. The Project activity considers the production of clean energy using a water flow of 6.0 m3/s using the Cabuzriver.

The second one is a photovoltaic solar plant with generation of Gold Standard credits are to be generated soon. The project activity involves the installation and operation of a greenfield grid-connected solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant in a plateau near the city of Nacaome in the south of the Republic of Honduras. The project will have a total installed capacity of 50 MW. The photovoltaic plant will be connected to the Honduras National Interconnected System, the SNI (“Sistema Nacional Interconectado”). The purpose of the project activity is to generate carbon-neutral electricity by using renewable solar power and to reduce the dependence on fossil fuel sources in Honduras.

According to ALLCOTs CEO, Alexis Leroy, “We shall continue our expansion due to our already great sucess in other latinamerican regions, we shall prove forward our commitment to our clients and partners in Centralamerica and the Caribean”

Valeria Prado says: I am very pleased with this new venture and to be part of the ALLCOT Group. We will make ALLCOT Mesoamericaa competitive partner in the market of sustainable development in the region.
