ALturki Group to turn CSR spotlight on Prince Saudi Bin Naif Park

Saudi Arabia’s Alturki Group will showcase the new Prince Saud Bin Naif Park in Dhahran, Easter Province, Saudi Arabia, at this month’s CSR Summit in Dubai as an example of impactful and effective community engagement.

The 9000 sq ft park uses beautiful architecture and Arabic calligraphy at its best to allow visitors to connect with the grand Muslim civilization and re-live its heritage.

Bandar Al Shammari, CSR Manager at Alturki Group, is among a line-up of more than 30 international and regional experts who will be speaking at the 11th CSR Summit, taking place from 18-21 May at The Address Hotel, Dubai Marina, Dubai.

Spotlighting Prince Saud Bin Naif Park as the company’s latest CSR initiative at the four-day event, Al Shammari says: “The park was designed to cater to everyone, regardless of gender, age, and cultural backgrounds, and to provide full accessibility for the disabled.”

“We wanted it to be a beacon of learning and knowledge, where visitors can acquire new skills and universal human values to help them become a more positive force in the community.”

The sound of the trickling water flowing in semi-circular ripples from an octagonal fountain in the centre of the park is intended to lift the human spirit as people roam among towering palm trees.

Visitors are guided by an audio system, while a visual presentation translates written text into sign language for the hearing impaired.

Also this year, Alturki Group will launch CSR Avenue, a new website telling the community what the group is working towards so they can feel part of the company’s CSR efforts and support the initiatives. This will be followed by CSR Village, a theoretical framework that aims to create a continued supportive environment where CSR professionals can learn, collaborate and support one another.

The four-day CSR Summit in Dubai is supported by Platinum sponsors; Nestlé, Unilever and Zain, Gold sponsors; PepsiCo (Asia, Middle East and Africa), Silver sponsors; Intel, Canon, and PiSlice and Healthcare sponsor; Sanofi. Friends of Cancer Patients is the official event charity.

Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry will use the event to highlight the Engage Dubai initiative, an employee volunteering programme, as an example of how it is leading sustainability and change in CSR.

Run by the Chamber’s Centre for Responsible Business, Engage Dubai encourages the corporate sector to mobilise employees and use their time, skills and expertise to make an invaluable difference to the communities where they work.

Among the other high profile speakers at the CSR Summit will be, Arijit Ghose, Managing Director, Unilever Gulf, the FMCG leader, and Dr Sven Rohte, COO, Daman, the UAE’s national health insurance company.
