Asia Plantation Capital showcases its oud oil at IFEAT

As the exclusive supplier to French, niche luxury perfume house Fragrance Du Bois – as well as other renowned perfume brands – award-winning sustainable plantation company Asia Plantation Capital needs no introduction in the essential oils and fragrance industry.

At the recent annual IFEAT (The International Federation of Essential Oils and Aroma Trades) Conference, which was held from the 28th of September to the 1st of October in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Asia Plantation Capital not only stepped up to the plate as title sponsors for the event, but also provided its rare, precious and 100 per cent pure Oud oil for a perfume workshop hosted by global perfume expert and Chanel fragrance consultant, Joanna Norman.

Themed ‘Asia – Source Of Essential Oils And Medicinal Plants’, the week-long conference covered several topics and issues regarding the complex and exciting flavour and fragrance industry, with the overall aim of encouraging environmental protection by pushing sustainability and good practices in the sector.

The all-day workshop saw attendees ranging from essential oils suppliers, experts, and perfume connoisseurs – who were given insights into the properties of a remarkable ingredient, and instruction on how to construct a fragrance from scratch with Asia Plantation Capital’s 100 per cent pure, natural Oud oil as an integral element in the composition.

The perfumery workshop also explored how the perfumer creates a fragrance by identifying raw materials, building accords and combining ingredients that produce an end product so much greater than the sum of the parts.

By design, the workshop is interactive, allowing participants to invoke all their senses to create a unique, self-inspired fragrance, as well as expanding their communication skills when describing ingredients and the ways in which they complement one another.

“I am sure that we have all noticed the increasing presence of Oud perfumes on the market,” said Joanna Norman. “There used to be fewer than 10 Oud-based fragrances, and then suddenly, every brand seemed to have an Oud scent as part of its collection. Oud is such a dynamic and interesting ingredient. It challenges a perfumer in every ‘scents’ – pun intended.”

“Asia Plantation Capital’s Oud oil, she concluded, “is of the very highest quality, and not only that, is sourced sustainably. Sustainability is a key topic at this conference.”
