CTX and Wildlife Works join forces

Carbon Trade Exchange (CTX) and Wildlife Works announced a new partnership today, demonstrating a commitment to take voluntary carbon offset trading in the REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) sector in North America to new heights.

Following their launch into North America in 2014, CTX has been looking to partner with industry leaders such as Wildlife Works to connect international markets and provide broader options and market access to buyers and sellers via the CTX Exchange. This partnership will benefit buyers by expanding the scope of forestry projects available and providing the highest quality offsets available at competitive prices.

Baden Wright, CTX CEO, said, “We are extremely excited to work with an industry leader like Wildlife Works so we can continue to offer the highest quality offsets and increase REDD+ project options on the exchange.”

Wildlife Works REDD+ projects offered on CTX deliver unprecedented environmental and social benefits to seriously impoverished parts of Africa that are most in need of transformational change. Offsets from Wildlife Works’ projects are dual certified by the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and the Climate, Community & Biodiversity Standard (CCB) and include the Kasigau Corridor REDD+ Project in Kenya and the Mai Ndombe REDD+ Project in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Combined, these projects protect over 1.2 million acres of highly threatened forests and positively impact rural communities of over 150,000 people. Social benefits include job creation, education, improved access to water, increased food security, small enterprise business development opportunities and financial training, women’s empowerment and more.

“Expanding our scope of buyers to support these transformational projects is the key to the success of reducing emissions and benefiting local communities,” said Mike Korchinsky, Wildlife Works Founder and President. “We are excited to have a partner like CTX to further our reach in the expanding voluntary market.”

CTX is the largest electronic spot trading exchange for voluntary carbon credits and has strategic relationships with APX Environmental Registry and the major voluntary carbon standards including Gold Standard, VCS, Climate Action Reserve and American Carbon Registry.

About CTX

CTX was founded in 2009 to operate spot exchanges in multiple global environmental commodity markets, including Carbon, Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) and Water. The CTX Exchange Platform uniquely interfaces with multiple environmental commodity registries, including APX, Climate Action Reserve, American Carbon Registry, VCS, Gold Standard and the Australian REC Registry. It also electronically links to financial intermediaries, such as Westpac in Australia, to provide efficient trading and create liquid and transparent markets. CTX is expanding globally, with its head office in Sydney, Australia, and international operations in the USA and Europe. For further information, please visit www.ctxglobal.com.

About Wildlife Works

Wildlife Works is a unique private sector forest conservation company founded in 2009 with a goal to make a massive contribution to reducing global emissions while protecting some of the most important and threatened tropical forests in the world.

Wildlife Works is currently engaged in several developing country forest communities, managing their transition away from forest destruction and towards sustainable economic development using REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and forest Degradation), an innovative market mechanism, to finance activities and to provide the financial incentives for communities and governments to protect their forests.

REDD+ places value on the natural capital of standing forests as a key element in mitigating climate change and sells that value to willing corporate leaders who are committed to reducing the carbon footprint of their organizations. In addition to reducing emissions from avoiding deforestation, Wildlife Works REDD+ projects deliver unprecedented environmental and social benefits to the project regions.
