National solar solutions provider Energy Matters has been recognised among Australia’s most progressive organisations, winning the 2011 Australian Business Awards in the categories of E-Business and Recommended Employer.
In its 6th year, the Australian Business Awards program recognises organisations demonstrating the core values of business excellence, product excellence, corporate responsibility, sustainability and commercial success in their respective industries.
The Australian Business Award for E-Business recognises innovative and/or strategic applications of electronic commerce (EC), information and communications technologies (ICT) in support of business processes and operations. The Recommended Employer award recognises organisations that provide a stimulating and supportive workplace.
Commenting on the win, Energy Matters’ General Manager of Innovations, Max Sylvester, said: “This is a great honour for our company. When we started Energy Matters 6 years ago, we were told people wouldn’t buy solar panels and systems online. Now it’s a common practice.”
“Energy Matters is striving to empower positive change in our nation by helping Australians install money-saving, clean, renewable energy systems for their homes and businesses. People can find all the information they need about going solar or generate an instant solar quote at any hour of the day through our web site at www.energymatters.com.au - and they can join Australia’s solar revolution from the comfort and convenience of their own homes with a few mouse clicks,” said Mr. Sylvester.
“Going solar is becoming increasingly simple thanks to the Internet, and we’re continually innovating to make it even more so.”
Energy Matters also understands that its passionate and skilled staff are the backbone of the business and has implemented a number of programs; including performance incentives and staff discounts on solar power systems.
Through strong OH&S policies, the company says it ensures a high degree of workplace safety for all staff, including its professional installation team, wherever they may be working.
Discounted massages and naturopathy sessions are offered to the team, showers and bike racks are provided for cyclists and fresh fruit and nuts are available to help staff stay fit and healthy.
Energy Matters also encourages further education through a comprehensive induction program, monthly staff development sessions and an education assistance program. The company has also recently taken on apprentices and an intern.
Tara Johnston, Program Director of the Australian Business Awards, said the standard of entries for 2011 was a testament to the strength and resilience of the Australian economy.
“We are proud that the Awards continue to promote the key values in the workplace which foster a vibrant organisational culture and encourage enterprise, product innovation, service excellence, marketing excellence, environmental sustainability and community contribution. We would like to congratulate all the 2011 winners for achieving exceptional results within the respective award categories,” said Johnston.
The Awards commenced in 2005 and are open to all private, public and non-profit sector organisations operating in Australia. This includes multi-national subsidiaries, government departments, agencies or bodies, franchisors and non-government organisations. A total of 103 recipients were honoured from the 928 organisations that participated in the 2011 Awards.
