European nuclear industry forum ATOMEX opens in Budapest

The 2015 European Forum of Nuclear Industry Suppliers ATOMEX has just opened in Budapest with the aim of strengthening and further developing its partnership within the European nuclear industry.

This is the 6th international Forum, organized by Rosatom, and has become a key communication platform to offer opportunities to partners for a direct and open dialogue with the Russian nuclear industry representatives.

Kirill Komarov, First Deputy CEO for Corporate Development and International Business at Rosatom, and Attila Aszódi, the commissioner of the Government of Hungary for maintenance of Paks NPP capacity, were among the keynote speakers at this year’s forum.

In his address, Kirill Komarov emphasized the importance of the Russian-Hungarian cooperation in the nuclear industry.

“Today, Rosatom holds a world-leading position for the number of nuclear power plants (NPPs) that are under simultaneous construction abroad. We have 43 power units at various construction stages: 9 units are in Russia and 34 units are abroad including the countries of Europe, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. Our projects provide European suppliers with a great opportunity to apply their technologies’, he said.

Kirill Komarov also pointed out that the number of Rosatom’s partners continues to increase every year, given Rosatom’s priority and global strategy of developing and international supply chain and localization.

“Rosatom’s procurements are performed as open tendering through electronic trading system. Our supply chain includes over 24 thousand Russian and foreign companies. The number of our suppliers has increased by 24 times for 5 years,” he added.

Attila Aszódi said that Hungary is focusing on nuclear energy alongside renewable energy as being key to meeting its commitments under the climatic policy.

The programme includes participation of Rosatom companies and key European partners, including the ASE Group of Companies, Rusatom Overseas, Rosenergoatom Concern and Atomenergomash. Other global players like AREVA, Rolls-Royce, Siemens shared their experience in working with Rosatom.

Round Tables devoted to the international cooperation in NPP design, construction, modernization and maintenance were held on 1st December.

B2B meetings have been organized for European suppliers and representatives of the Russian nuclear industry. The Forum’s participants are the leading Russian and foreign executives and representatives of the nuclear companies, enterprises, over 300 people from 14 countries in total.
